Some people are totally convinced and many assume that their diet play a role toward or affect psoriasis. In reality, no studies have shown a connection between diet and psoriasis. However, it can not be said that there might not be one. It is just that there is not any proof so far.
According to most experts, the best diet for people who develop psoriasis is the same as it is for anyone else. That is to say psoriasis patients should eat a sensible diet that is low in fats and sweets and high in vegetables and fruits. Getting regular exercise is also of great benefit while acting on a sensible diet plan.
A cleansing juice fast for a week is always advantageous at the start of the treatment as psoriasis is known to be a metabolic disease. Grapes, beets, carrots, and cucumbers may be used for juices.
A well-balanced diet i.e. the diet consisting of fruits, nuts, vegetables, seeds, and grains should be seriously considered by every individual. Emphasis should be placed on:
- Plenty of organically grown raw fruits and vegetables
- Raw nuts and seeds, especially sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds
Following foods should be avoided.
- All animal fats, including eggs, butter, milk
- Refined or processed foods
- Foods containing hydrogenated fats or white sugar
Goat’s milke, home-made cottage cheese, and yoghurt may be added to the diet when there is a substantial improvement.
